Extra Care facilities are becoming more and more popular as an alternative to a care home type environment. Very often built as a flat complex but with some element of communal facilities, Extra Care is easily confused with Independent Living units. Essentially, the difference is that ILUs are usually part of a larger scheme, such as a care village, whereas Extra Care facility often stand as an individual entity. |
