What is a 'Home With Care'?

With people living longer than ever before and remaining more independent, a new concept of retirement and care property has evolved.

Until these options became available, there were very few services to choose from for those people requiring something between the “sheltered” housing option, where residents merely benefited from an emergency call bell system and an on-site warden, and a traditional care home where 24 hour care is provided.

Independent Living, Close Care and Extracare, are all terms that describe the various forms of Assisted Living or “Homes With Care” which fill the gap between the sheltered housing and care home options. Homes with care are for those people who remain active in body and mind but may need some help. Help with domestic work or varying levels of care are made available in purpose built or adapted facilities that provide suitable accommodation and yet allow the person to remain far more independent in their own property which is more akin to a house, bungalow or apartment.

Built to provide this specific service, this accommodation also allows like minded people to become part of a community and benefit from the comfort, security and knowledge that, no matter what their level of need, all relevant service are readily available nearby.

Where a couple may require differing levels of help, Homes With Care allow each party to benefit from such services as required whilst enabling them both to remain independent and in their own property for longer.
