Compulsory retirement age at 65 fully abolished

New legislation has been put into place, on 1st October 2011, BBC News writes the report.

New legislation stops employees from retiring at the age of 65.

Research has been carried out by a law firm Norton Rose, which suggests that one in ten firms plan to offer financial incentives to encourage workers to move on at a certain age.

Andrew Webster a gentleman from, Richmond in Surrey, who was to late for the legislation to take place, he uses the word ‘devastated’ to show his emotion he felt when he was issued with his compulsory notice to retire.

Age UK said that instead of focusing on making space for young employees businesses should focus on what older workers have to offer.
